what type of surface should I put my carrot cake on to frost it? and also I cooked to cakes in 9" round pans. Should I cut each cake in half and frost the halves and put them all on top of each other or should I just frost the outside of both the cakes and the middle part in between so pretty much not cutting the cakes?

  1. Don't cut them and just frost them!I think it would look very nice

    that way.

  2. If you're using cream cheese frosting, cutting the layers and frosting in between them (which is called torting) may make the cake too rich, since carrot cake is really rich to begin with.  If you're using carrot cake from a mix, then it should be fine to tort and put the extra frosting in.

Your cake will look nice on a plate or a platter.  My favorite plates to use for cakes are chargers...those plastic platters they sell to put under regular plates.

You should cut the rounded tops off of the cake so that it will have a flat top.  Put the cut surfaces in the middle.
