Question:

Cake ideas for a vow renewal and anniversary celebration?

Hi. My husband and I are having a small vow renewal cermoney/church blessing and our 10 year anniversary on Aug 29th. I want to have a cake done, but I really have no idea what is appropriate, what the writing should say - should it have a picture or a design or cake topper?

Our colors are purple, lavendar, black, and white. Any body have suggestions or a great design? Should it just be a sheet cake or should it be a "decker" cake?

We will probably have roughly 20 people attending the dinner after the ceremony.

  1. Maybe have a photo cake done with a photo of the two of you and your wedding.

  2. A decker cake.

It should look more like a wedding cake and less like a birthday cake.

  3. If you had a traditional wedding cake, and can provide a photo,

a bakery can duplicate the decor in a smaller version for you.

I'm a cake decorator of 30+ years and did this for sister.

  4. How about doing cheesecakes? I would put two cheesecakes in the center of each table (as a centerpiece) You could wrap a purple, lavendar, black, or white ribbon around each one and put it on a cake pedestal. I think it would be very classy and cute!

  5. Layer cakes are nicer, if you can get one that will serve 20 people.  If you can find a topper with entwined hearts or hands, that might be nice, but just a bunch of fresh flowers, with scattered flowers over the layers is pretty too.  Violets or pansies would be pretty; or even candied violets...... Elvis sang a song in one of his Hawaii movies that seems perfect, if you want to use the lyrics somehow.  I can't remember the name of that song, but the line that jumps out is "I love you more today than yesterday, but less than I will tomorrow."
