Cal Crutchlow believes he has proven he can fight with the best – MotoGP news
Cal Crutchlow of Monster Yamaha Tech3 was unable to finish the Japanese Grand Prix.
He retired 1 lap prior to the finish line. He told that he was fighting for the podium throughout the race which proves that he can fight with the best riders of the world.
The Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider told that he only has positive things from the race to remember. He added that he was struggling over the circuit on Friday still he managed to fight for the front row of the grid and sustained it for the rest of the race.
Crutchlow said, “This isn't a good track for me and I was struggling on Friday, yet I managed to get on the front row of the grid again and for the whole race I was fighting for the podium.”
He remains satisfied with the adjustments they had made with their bike and appreciated the efforts he and his crew did over the weekend. Besides, he said that he is disappointed with the results of the race as he could have achieved more and edged Alvaro
Bautista by the final lap. He believes that edging Bautista would have been an achievement for him because Bautista was riding impressively over the circuit.
Furthermore, he said that he is disappointed that he could not carry on with the battle against his teammate, Andrea Dovizioso, to get the lead and he is sure that his teammate enjoyed the battle they had during the race. He added that he would have been
satisfied with the race even if he could attain 4th or 5th position in the championship but he lost precious points at the Japanese event.
In addition, he told that they had anticipated that fuel will be the critical factor in the race but he used more fuel because he was at his own and did not use any slipstream.
“I've proven again though that I can fight with the best in the world and now I'm looking forward to Sepang. I had two good tests there earlier this year and I'm excited to go back and try to battle for the top three again,” he added.
Crutchlow is among the few riders who are proving their strength at the circuit. Let’s see how he performs at the upcoming Malaysian Grand Prix.
