Cal Crutchlow in 2011: a rising talent with his Yamaha machine – MotoGP Special
Cal Crutchlow of Monster Yamaha Tech3 is our choice among the rising talents of MotoGP because he has proven his strength with his bike in an early stage of his career.
2011 was the first year when he started his MotoGP career and started proving himself over the circuit.
The first official start he made was at the Qatar Grand Prix in 2011 where he attained the 8th grid and finished the race at the 11th position however his enthusiasm did not end with such result and he pushed to 8th position at the very next Spanish Grand
Prix where he started the race at the 9th grid. Same results were achieved at the Portugal Grand Prix as he managed an 8th position there, sustaining his grid position.
He suffered an unfortunate ending at the France Grand Prix when he was unable to make it to the finish line. This was his first retirement from the race. Catalonia Grand Prix was the event when he was trying to push hard and managed to achieve the best results
of his career by making it to the 7th position. We would call it an unfortunate finish as he had attained the 6th grid position in the qualifiers of that race.
Netherland Grand Prix was an unfortunate event when he finished the race at the 14th position after starting at the 6th grid and in the very next Italian Grand Prix he retired and was not able to make it to the finish line. This event marks the beginning
of unfortunate endings of the British rider because until Australian Grand Prix, the second last Grand Prix of the 2011 season, either he was unable to attain a better position than 9th or he was unable to make it to the finish line.
In Valencia Grand Prix he proved that the unfortunate endings in the previous were not due to his lack of experience rather these were just his bad lucks. He managed finishing at the 4th position. We are not comparing him with the records of veteran riders
like Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa because in our view they are the kings of the sport rather we are saying that Crutchlow has what is required to attain the championship.
In the recent races, if he has not been able to edge his experienced teammate Andrea Dovizioso he has been able to give him tough time over the circuit. We anticipate that time is not far when he will be proving himself in fighting for the top three positions,
convincingly.
