Cal Crutchlow of Monster Yamaha Tech3 finishes 11th in Indianapolis Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Cal Crutchlow spent a tough raceday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
He started and finished the Indy GP in the same position at 11th.
The British rider also suffered the common problem of front tyre. He worked hard to sort the front tyre issue which he already faced in the previous races. Since the Catalunya event it is being termed as a good finish by the Brit.
Crutchlow said, “Firstly I want to say a big thanks to all my guys in the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Team. They never gave up all weekend, even when we were struggling a little bit and it might sound silly but I don't think any of us in the garage have ever been
so pleased to get an 11th place.”
He managed to maintain his pace throughout the 28-lap race. During his battle he fought with Loris Capirossi, Toni Elias, Randy de Puniet and Hiroshi Aoyama.
Later in the race San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli dropped to the last pack of riders in the race. This left him fighting with Crutchlow in last laps and in final laps he stole the 11th position from Simoncelli.
Crutchlow added, “After the bad recent run it was important to finish the race and I did that. The result wasn't the best but my speed at the end of the race was really good and I'm happy about that, so there are a lot of positives to take to Misano.”
He claimed that at the end of the race his lap times were better than Jorge Lorenzo’s effort. Though he was far away from Lorenzo but he feels it is a good mark to achieve.
Like other riders he was devastated with same issue of front tyre but he did not let it hamper his performance and tried his maximum to end the race with some points.
Coming to the next round he is relieved that he will not have to learn the track but concentrate on improving ahead from this position.
