Cal Crutchlow ranks Valentino Rossi as ‘one of the best’ amongst current MotoGP riders – MotoGP news
Setting aside Valentino Rossi’s two consecutive winless MotoGP seasons, Cal Crutchlow believes that Rossi is still amongst the best MotoGP riders.
“Valentino is still one of the fastest guys on the grid and he has got the best record and he will be motivated,” the Yamaha Tech 3 rider said while talking to Motorcycle news.
According to Crutchlow, the chances of Rossi defeating his Yamaha teammate and reigning MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo in a MotoGP round are minimal. Even then, Crutchlow gives Rossi full
points for his riding skills and his ability to win races in the upcoming MotoGP season.
“I think it will be very, very difficult for him to beat Lorenzo on the same machine but I do believe he will be back to his best. Valentino will give great competition at the front. He is
always going to battle and for me there's no reason why he can't win races again,” Crutchlow said.
Rossi’s last triumph in a MotoGP round came more than 2 years ago in 2010 Malaysian MotoGP. The following year, Rossi switched to Ducati which proved to be the worst decision in Rossi’s MotoGP
career. 3 podiums were all the Italian could muster over two years of his Ducati career. Crutchlow claims that countless MotoGP fans and numerous MotoGP riders will love to see the seven times MotoGP champion back in his old riding form.
“Everybody wants Rossi back at the front. It's not only the fans that want to see it but also the other riders,” said Crutchlow.
In his most recent MotoGP appearance at the Sepang test, Rossi has shown signs of a come back. He finished the first official MotoGP test for this year in third place, behind Honda rival
Dani Pedrosa and his Yamaha teammate.
With a little over two and a half months to go until the 2013 MotoGP season starts in Qatar, Rossi’s spirits are soaring. The Italian has considerably grown in confidence following his switch
back from Ducati to Yamaha Factory Racing. He will indefinitely put in his best efforts in order to get back into the winning streak.
