A bacteria culture started with 9,000 bacteria and increased by 10% the first hour. Find the number of bacteria that will be presented in 4 hours.

So far I have:

Q(4) = 9000e 1/2 ln 10t

I am not sure if I am on the right track or not.

Please help

  1. where did you get the " 1/2 ln 10t" ??...Q' = kQ----> ln Q = kt + C and initial condition means C = ln 9000, then when t = 1 you have Q = 9900------> k = ln 1.1....you can do the rest of the work........{about 13175}

  3. 1.1^4 * 9000 = 1.4641 * 9000 = 13176.9 or 13176 cuz there cant be 0.9 of bacteria

  4. 10% is 1,000 so 4 times will be 4,000.Add 4,000 to

    9,000.Which equals 13,000.So you started out good but the 1/2 part is wrong it's 4,000.So that's your answer.

    Put 40% instead of 4,000.
