  1. you need to feed it mixed vegetables like romaine lettuce and carrots and buy some calcium supplements at your local pet store and sprinkle some of the supplement on top of the tortoises food and feed it to the tortoise. That will help calcify the shell

    hope this helps

  2. try milk , but u should check with your vet first

  3. check out internet reptile suppliers for calcium powder and dust his food with it. don't get anything with phosphorus, though because there's plenty of it in the food.

maybe you should also get some reptile vitamins.

i buy stuff from this website but there are dozens:

please don't give your pet any dairy products. that's a very stupid suggestion. milk is made by cows for their calves and reptiles should eat what they'd have in nature (for herman tortoise that's leaves and flowers).

    a great website about tortoises:

  4. Get bonemeal from the garden store or plaster or gypsum. Sprinkle it on the food. If you can get earthwoms, they are a good source of calcium. Don't forget the vitamin D, necessary for absorption of the calcium. Liver is a good source or you can let the tortoise bask in sunlight or a UV light.
