  1. In order to solve this question, you need to know the weight of the substance per mole. Carbon for instance is 12.01g per mole. I believe the weight of NH4NO3 is 80 g/mole. You then do some stoichiometry to convert it.

    95g of NH4NO3 x (1mol/80g per mole) = 1.1875 moles

If you do this on paper, you see that the "grams" measurement of the 95 and the 80 cancel out and you are left with moles

  2. 1 mole of NH4NO3 is equal to its molar mass which is  80.0434g.

    In short,

    1 mole of NH4NO3 = 80.0434g

If you want to find the number of moles in 95g,

    95 g / 80.0434 g

and you will get 1.187 moles.

  3. you will need to get 95g and divide it by  the molar mass of NH4NO3.  I dont have a calc or a periodic table w/ me so i can t really do it right now sorry but i hope it helps a bit.

heres what it kinda looks like

    95g(1mole/MM NH4NO3)= #### moles of NH4NO3

Molar Mass is grams/mole so it cancels out the grams

  4. The molecular Mass (Mol.mass) of a substance is the sum of the Atomic and/or mol.masses of the Elements involved in the substance.

Mol.mass of NH4NO3, from the Periodic Table...

    = N: (2 x 14); + H: (4 x 1) + O: (3 x 16) = 28 + 4 + 48 = 80g/mol.

    Moles of the substance = Mass (95g) / Mol.mass (80g/mol).

    = 95/80 = 1.1875 moles NH4NO3.

Our thumbs downer however, is under the impression that the question involves the 'Moles' that dig up your garden.

  5. First you need to know the molar mass of NH4NO3.

The molar mass of NH4NO3 is 80.0g

Then you divide 95g by 80.0g which gives you 1.1875g.

You can set it up like this:

               95g NH4NO3  x  1 mole NH4NO3

              ----------------------------------------... =1.1875g NH4NO3

                            80.0gNH4NO3
