by means of a labelled diaagram, explain how a nitrogen atom in a molecule of urea in the urine of a sheep may, after a number of weeks, be found in a protein molecule in the leaf of a green plant, about to be eaten by the same sheep.give the names of the main processes and the mirco organisms involved.

  1. 1) The length of companion cells is variable . It differs from plant to plant and organ to organ .

You have not mentioned which plant you are curious about . And which organ ( Root , Stem. Petiole etc.).

Usually family Cucurbitaceae ( Cucumber and Squashes ) have larger companion cells ( Lengthwise ) as these plants have larger sieve tubes .

2 ) The Nitrogen atom in the molecule of urea of the sheep will first get associated with Oxygen and will become nitrite or nitrate ( NO2 or NO3 )

Then it will enter a root of a plant and travel up .

It will then become a part of a protein molecule ( Probably but not definitely ) In the leaf of that plant .

And when that leaf , if eaten by the same sheep , then it will again become a part of that sheep . Thus the recycling of elements is proved.

It is impossible to give diagram in this forum . So excuse.

Listen to what your professor discuss...

    Good luck...
