Which is better for an advanced physics class?

They are exactly the same except for two ways.

The TI 84 has more memorry than the TI 83

and the TI 84 has a USB port so you can connect it to your computer.

Computer usage is new in the Texas Instruments industry and I'm sure that by having a USB port it will come in handy sometime.

Also, I recently was making the same decision you are and I realized that there is only a 10 dollar difference between the two.  So its not a catostrophic mistake to pick one or the other.

they are pretty much exactly the same. there is no really big difference between the two. 84s have more memory. thats about it. i would go with the 84 for this reason.

Buy the TI84 so you can connect it to the computer - there are lots of physics programs available that will be a big help to your class.

I have taken several advanced physics classes and have gotten by fine with a TI-83. However, I would say if you are considering getting something higher than the TI-83 you might as well get the 89. It has helped a lot with my engineering courses.
