Caldwell? Put kid up for adoption?

Question

I was adopted. I think my birth family`s name was Caldwell. Adoptive parents just pasted away in a car accident. I don`t know how to find biological parents now. Does anyone have any information? (Or if your name is Caldwell and you put a child up for adoption.)

First of all, I am sorry to hear about our sudden loss.

My brother was adopted and my parents kept all the paperwork in a filing cabinet. Your parents should have kept all your legal work somewhere safe.

First - I am SO, SO SORRY for the loss of your parents.  I lost my adoptive parents over ten years ago, I can completely empathize with your loss.  I hope you are coping well.

Possum gave you excellent suggestions, I recommend you check out her links.  All I can add is to tell you how I managed my search.  If you know which agency or lawyer handled your adoption, contact them and ask what information they can provide you.  The agency that did my adoption provided search services (for a hefty fee, buggers) but I saved up to pay for it and they found her for me.

I wish you luck, this is such a tumultuous time so do please take it easy and make sure you are being GOOD to yourself.
