Calella or Malgrat De Mar?

I am going on holiday this August to the Costa Brava in Spain, and want somewhere fun and crowded with great beaches and great nightlife and lots of young people. I am not going to Lloret De Mar or Barcelona (but I will visit Barcelona), so I am choosing between Calella, Malgrat De Mar or Tossa De Mar.

Which of these do you recommend? Or do you recommend somewhere else? Thanks!!!

Please ONLY recommend me resorts which are by the sea and in Costa Brava! Thanks!

  1. Have a look through this lot.

PS I don't blame you for giving lloret a miss by the way.!

  2. Whilst Calella, Malgret and Tossa are all beach resorts, I would recommend Calella as the most suitable for what you are looking for.

Tossa is very nice, but a bit isolated with no rail connection.   Not quite so appealing for those seeking nightlife.

I would choose Calella above Malgret, as it's bigger, livelier with more nightlife, and is closer to Barcelona on the train, which runs parallel to the beach and is frequent and very cheap.   The Calella beaches are probably the widest, with plenty of room for beach sports.   There are good beach bar/restaurants all the way along the clean beach.   Also, should you want to do any shopping Calella has over 800 shops, many of which are in the long pedestrianised shopping street.   There are enough bars, disco's and clubs in the newer part of the town to keep most young people happy.    This is also where you will find the majority of hotels.
