Calgary Flames’ NHLPA rep Matt Stajan hopes that the mediator can help in ending the lockout
Matt Stajan, a professional ice hockey player from Canada, who plays for Calgary Flames in the National Hockey League (NHL), is optimistic that having a mediator will help their cause and will result in the restoration of the league.
Stajan who is also the representative of NHL Players’ Association, believes that a neutral person will think about both sides and will make some progress in the case of both parties.
The player is obviously disappointed because of the lockout as no player wants to waste his time at such an important phase of his career. They would surely be looking to see the lockout end as soon as possible so that they can be action once again.
When there was a lockout last time, a mediator party had tried to solve the dispute but it had not helped and there was a lockout for one whole season. This time the mediator party would be trying hard to solve the problem between the two parties and would
be eager to get the things going. Federal Mediation and Reconciliation Service of US will be the mediator party.
The 28-year-old forward player knows that they have tried their best to solve the issue and have been trying to do so for last two months but all of their efforts went in vein. He knows that now there is need of doing something different and bringing a third
party to do the job. Stajan said,
“As this process has gone on, we’ve made every effort — especially with our last proposal last week — to engage in a negotiation that will get this thing finished”.
The Mississauga, Ontario native believes that the mediator party is going to help their cause and they will surely be playing once again after resolving the issue, as he added,
“Obviously, that didn’t work out, so hopefully, bringing in a mediator will help the process get moving and get it resolved. We want to get back playing.”
Stajan has been a very consistent player for last one decade and has been doing very well in the NHL. He spent most of his years with the Toronto Maple Leafs’ side but has been playing for Calgary Flames for last three seasons.
