Calgary Flames comes up with an important 3-2 win over St. Louis Blues making an impressive comeback

St. Louis Blues hosted Calgary Flames this Friday at the Scottrade Center where Flames made an impressive comeback to win the game by 3-2 after trailing at the start of the final period.
Flames needed the win as it was four points behind Chicago Blackhawks before the game while Blues is out of the playoff’s contention.
Flames started off as the better one of the two sides and piled up a few shots on goal but it was Blues who scored the lone goal of the period to get the lead.
The second 20 minutes of the game saw both teams coming out strong and scoring a goal each with the score at 2-1, in favour of Blues at the end.
Both teams were evenly matched in the final period but it was Flames who scored twice in the final period to win the game by 3-2.
Flames’ captain, Jarome Iginla, was named the star of the game as he scored two goals and came up with an assist.
Calgary Flames was the first to make shots on goal but St. Louis Blues was not far behind as it got better for Blues with the passage of time.
There were several chances for Blues and it finally scored in the 13th minute through Matt D’Agostini’s powerful strike during a power-play.
Both teams kept on attacking but the score didn’t change and the period ended with Blues leading 1-0. During the period, Blues made 11 shots on goal while Flames made five.
The second 20 minutes of game-play saw a shift in momentum as Flames made more shots on goal than Blues. Blues scored the opening goal of the period through David Backes while Flames scored in the 16th minute to cut the lead to a single goal through
Jarome Iginla.
The score at the end of the period was 2-1 in favour of Blues as they made seven goal attempts during the period while Flames made 11.
Both teams got a slow start to the game but they caught pace within a few minutes. Flames was successful in nearing the goal on several occasions. Blues also made a few shots on goal but it couldn’t get near the goal as frequently as Flames.
In the end, it was Flames who scored in the ninth minute through Alex Tanguay’s well placed flick shot to level the scores.
The home fans were silenced as Flames scored once again through Iginla, his second of the game.
The period and the game ended with Flames winning 3-2 in the end with both teams making nine shots on goal during the period.
