Calgary Flames have ample chance going up against struggling Montreal Canadiens -NHL Preview
Team love it when they are scheduled to go against a low ranked team anytime in the season and for Calgary, the timing is perfect. Flames are three points away from tying eighth place San Jose Sharks and facing Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, March 6, 2012,
could mean getting closer to their goal.
Calgary is under intense heat as they struggling to climb back up and stand right where they were last time during the 2010-2011 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season. The reason for the immense criticism is that the Flames could not find their way
back into the postseason and fans are hoping that their team does not do it again.
"We keep going," Flames captain, Jarome Iginla, said in the Calgary Herald. "There's lots of hockey to be played … lots of points left. We need to put a string together. We know we need to win a good share of those games, but we believe we can do that."
Each and every game will be crucial now for Calgary and going up against struggling teams could be the answer for them to get back into the postseason race.
"It hasn't been easy losing those shootout games," Iginla said. "I honestly do feel they can go either way. We need to keep going, moving forward and work on getting the next game."
Calgary, themselves will be entering the contest on a two game losing streak and not hoping to repeat a disappointing month of February, the Flames will definitely have to try extra hard to defeat Montreal.
Montreal on the other hand can also make the playoffs, that is if they do not lose any of their upcoming games, which at the moment just seems like an outright dream for the Canadiens and they know it.
Flames and Montreal are set to go head-to-head on Tuesday at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada at 9:00 PM ET.
Prediction:
Calgary Flames take match by rallying in third period with a lead of two or more to defeat Montreal Canadiens. As the match is expected to grow intense heading into the final period, seeing them battle it out in overtime would also not be surprising.
