Calgary Flames host the Boston Bruins
The Calgary Flames will be hosting the Boston Bruins on Tuesday as they square off against each other in the one and only meeting between the two sides during the course of the season. The last time these two met was on the 20th of March 2010
during the last season which saw the Bruins dominating the game and winning 5-0 in the end.
The Flames are red hot as well as they notch up regular points as move for a play-off spot. The Flames in their most recent game were up against the Montreal Canadiens this past Sunday. The game saw the Flames totally dominating right from the start and
maintaining the pressure till the end which resulted in them winning the game 4-0 in the end. The win levelled the Flames on points with the Predators for the fifth spot.
"It's just fun to be part of this and playing in front of these people, especially when you're sitting on the bench and you're looking out and seeing 40,000 people," said Flames forward Rene Bourque, who had a pair of goals at McMahon Stadium.
The last game which was played at the memorable McMahon Stadium was the Winter Classic Heritage Game that saw around 40,000 fans coming to witness the game. Not only did they win the game but scored two crucial points as they look to move out of the tight
battle for the play-off spots in the Western Conference.
"This is a game that after my career I'm certainly going to cherish and remember," Flames forward Alex Tanguay said. "It's every day that for us as a player we get a chance to play regularly in front of 20,000 people, but it's not every day that you get
to do it in front of the big stadium like that, in front of that many fans."
The Flames have played 61 games in the season so far out of which they have won 31 games in regulation time, eight games in overtime and scored a total of 70 points. The Bruins on the other hand have played 59 games out which they have won 33 games in regulation
time and seven games in overtime to score 73 points.
The Bruins won their second straight game against the Ottawa Senators, winning the game 4-2 this past Friday. The Bruins are on an important road trip which will give them a chance of moving into the second position in the Eastern Conference and overtaking
the Tampa Bay Lightning who they trial by two points.
"I think this team is pretty close as it is, but it will help being on the road for eight days," Bruins forward Gregory Campbell said. "If nothing else, we'll be sick of each other by the end of it."
Both the teams are top tier teams in the league and in strong position in their respective Conference. They will be looking to notch up vital points as they look not only to make it into the play-offs but also finish in a strong position at the end of the
regular season.
