Calgary Flames move into sixth spot after winning 1-0 against the St. Louis Blues

The Calgary Flames hosted the St. Louis Blues as they were up against the St. Louis Blues this Sunday at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The Flames were desperate for a win as they were pushed out of the play-off cut with the Hawks winning the game while the
Blues were looking to come up with a win to notch up important wins.
The game started off with both teams making goal attempts every now and then. However, the Flames made a strong start to the final period which saw them scoring the only goal in the final period. The Flames won the game 1-0 in the end. Davis Payne of the
Blues was star of the game creating chances every now and then.
The Flames made a great start to the game which saw them coming up with shots on goal. There definite scoring chances for the Flames but they failed to find the back of the net. The Blues with the passage of time got better and chances started to come their
way too.
After the middle part of the period, the Blues made couple to strong shots on goal but they weren’t able to find the back of the net. The period saw both teams ending the period on a high note as they fired shots on goal. Unfortunately, none of the shots
found the back of the net as the period ended with the scores deadlocked on 0-0.
During the course of the period, the Flames made 6 goal attempts while the Blues made 10 goal attempts during the course of the period.
The second period was no different from the first one as both teams kept on piling shots on target. Some brilliant pieces of play were constructed by both the teams but they didn’t have the final touch. Excellent ice hockey was on display throughout the
course of the period.
However, the lack of conversion of chances coupled with a very strong defence resulted in the no goals scored during the period once again. The period ended with the scores still deadlocked on 0-0. During the course of the period the Flames made 9 goal attempts
while the Blues made just three goal attempts.
The final period saw the Blues coming out strong as they fired shots on goal every now and then. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to score and it was the Flames who scored the goal which proved to be the only goal of the game.
The goal was scored by David Moss from a quick fired shot that found the back of the net. The period was dominated by the Blues in terms of shots on goal but they weren’t able to score as the game ended with the Flames winning the game 1-0.
During the course of the final period the Flames made just 5 goal attempts while the Blues made 14 goal attempts.
