Calgary Flames plays host to Phoenix Coyotes in the fourth and final meeting between the two sides
The final game of Tuesday will be played at the Scotiabank Saddledome as Calgary Flames plays host to Phoenix Coyotes.
This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two sides during the course of the season.
Coyotes have been the dominating force in the series as they won all the three games.
The most recent game between the two teams saw Coyotes coming up with a very strong offensive show that resulted in Coyotes winning the game 3-0 in the end.
Flames were looking weak as they lost two straight games which saw them slipping out of the play-off cut.
However, they managed to make their way back into the cut but by a slender of margin of a point. However, a win for Flames this time out would them for the fourth spot in the Western Conference.
The race for the play-off in the Conference is heating up and with the teams coming ever so close to each other in terms of points would make things even close and interesting.
Flames played the league leaders, Vancouver Canucks, in their last game where they took the lead early on. Later they managed to double their advantage but they weren’t able to hold on as they allowed the strong Canucks' offence to score goals every now
and then, which resulted in Canucks winning the game 4-3 in the end.
"To be up 2-0 is a great start on a Saturday night against these guys at home, but we know they have a lot of firepower," Jarome Iginla said. "They got that important first power-play goal to settle it down because we were in control until then."
Flames have played 71 games during the course of the season so far out which they have won 36 games in regulation time and nine games in overtime to score a total of 81 points.
On the other hand, Coyotes have played 70 games during the season so far out of which they have won 36 games in regulation time and 11 games in overtime to score a total of 83 points.
Flames came up with a decent performance in their last game against Anaheim Ducks.
The game was pretty much even at the start but Coyotes upped their pace and scored goals to win the game 5-2 in the end to win their third game in regulation time out of the last four games.
"You're going to drive yourself crazy if you look at those standings that hard every day," said Flames' coach, Dave Tippett. "We have the focus right now that every game is going to be the game that puts you in the playoffs, and we have to play every one
just like it's a playoff game."
