Calgary Flames rookie defenseman T.J.Brodie day-to-day with upper-body injury-NHL News
Calgary Flames’ rookie defenseman, T.J. Brodie, is the latest player to have joined the extended injury list of the team, which at the moment just cannot think of a solution to their so many injury problems.
Brodie is reported to have suffered an unspecified upper-body injury during the game against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday, March 09, 2012, which Flames won by five to three (5-3) goals.
He was taken to the sidelines after the injury and did not return for rest of the game. The player is still out and there is apparently no timeline on his recovery and return.
Brodie did not accompany the team on their road trip to St. Paul next day, and Anton Babchuk was called in to replace him in the Sunday’s (March 11, 2012) game against the Minnesota Wild.
Now, he is on day-to-day along with some other teammates but his return over the next few days is unlikely.
The comeback is even more difficult to predict when the team has refrained from disclosing the nature and status of the injury.
This is for the second time that the player is shaken down by the injury scare, as he experienced some similar circumstances at the training camp before the start of the regular season.
However, since the start of the season, he has remained healthy and fit and proved his skills as a true NHL player in his very first year of professional career.
So far, he has represented Flames in 54 games while scoring two goals and earned a total of 14 points. He was seen improving day by day before suffering the injury setback.
Now, he hopes to be able to play for the rest of the season as his injury is said to be not season-threatening one. His team is also optimistic about his early comeback.
Meanwhile, his departure does not bode well for the team at this juncture of time when it has many other players on the injury list.
Chris Butler is one notable amongst all who is out nursing a leg injury, and has so far missed eight games in a row. He is expected to miss a few more as there is no timeline on his return.
Butler is reported to have suffered a thigh laceration, in a friendly-fire collision with the team mate and netminder, Miikka Kiprusoff, a couple of weeks ago, and has not been able to play or practise along with the team since then.
