Calgary Flames wins 3-2 against the Nashville Predatorsto cement their playoff spot - NHL Updates
Calgary Flames played hosted to the Nashville Predators at the Scotiabank Saddledome this Sunday.
Both the teams needed a win as they wanted to cement their position in the play-off cut with things heating up in each of the Conferences.
The Predators made a decent start to the game which saw them scoring twice during the first period to lead 2-1.
However, the Flames fought their way back into the game as they scored in each of the next periods to win the game by 3-2 in the end.
Jarome Iginla, captain of Calgary Flames, was named the star of the game as he scored the game winning goal.
Both teams made a good start to the game but it was the Predators who came up with the all important breakthrough that put them in the lead.
It took them just three minutes to score despite playing away. The goal was scored by Martin Erat from a well placed flick shot.
The period moved on with both teams continually coming up with shots on goal. But it was not until the eighth minute that the Flames scored to level the scores. The goal was scored by Mark Giordano from a quick fired shot during power play.
The period continued on the same roads but the Predators scored once again in the 16th minute to get into the lead once again.
The goal was scored by Ryan Suter from a well placed flick shot. There were a few more shots on goal but unfortunately none of them found the back of the net.
The period ended with the Predators leading 2-1 with both teams making 9 goal attempts each during the course of the period.
The second period started off with the Flames dominating. Their dominating resulted in the home team scoring in the very first minute to level the scores.
The goal was scored by Jarome Iginla from a well placed flick shot.
The period saw the Flames totally dominating the game when it came to the offence and defence.
They came up with some brilliant pieces of play and passing. Unfortunately, no further goals were scored during the course of the period. The period ended with the scores level on 2-2.
During the course of the period, the Predators made just four goal attempts while the Flames made 13 shots on goal.
The final 20 minutes of play saw the teams pretty much even when it comes to the productivity of scoring chances.
Though there weren’t any goals during the opening part of the period, the Flames managed to score in the 11th minute to get into the lead.
The goal was scored by Curtis Glencross from a brilliant backhand shot.
The period saw the Predators coming across several scoring chances but they couldn’t find the back of the net as the period ended with the Flames winning the game by 3-2.
The Flames made 14 goal attempts during the game while the Predators made 10 shots on goal.
