Calgary Flames wins 5-2 against Colorado Avalanche in a nerve-wrecking match

Calgary Flames played host to Colorado Avalanche at the Scotiabank Saddledome this Thursday.
Avalanche is out of contention of a playoff spot as it is second to last in the Western Conference but Flames needed the win so that it could hold on to the final playoff spot.
The game started off with Flames on fire as they came up with several shots on goal. They managed to score twice before Avalanche could come up with any sort of response.
Avalanche scored later on but Flames scored once again to regain the two-goal advantage.
The second period saw both teams coming up with shots but they couldn’t score. The period ended goalless.
The final period saw Flames attacking right from the start once again which saw them scoring twice.
Avalanche also scored a goal but it was Flames who won the game 5-2 in the end.
Captain of the Flames, Jarome Iginla, was named the star of the game as he scored two goals.
Flames started the game on fire as they came up with shots on goal right from the start. Flames scored through Captain Jarome Iginla from a powerful strike in the fourth minute during a power-play.
Flames continued to pile pressure on the opposing team which saw them scoring once again in the fifth minute through Mark Giordano from a well placed flick shot.
Avalanche managed to respond with some shots on goal which saw them scoring in the 8th minute through Mark Olver's brilliant backhand shot to cut the lead to a single goal.
However, Flames were red hot in form and scored once again in the final minute to regain the two goals advantage.
The period ended with the Flames leading 3-1 as they made 13 shots during the period while the Avalanche made 10 goals attempts.
The second period saw Avalanche coming up with shots every now and then and their defence also came up with a decent effort which saw them restricting the strong offence of Flames to almost nothing.
The final 20 minutes of play started off with the Flames starting stronger of the two teams and their play-making was also superb at the early stages of the period. 
Flames were able to capitalise from the start and scored in the fifth minute through Ales Kotalik from a quick fired shot.
Flames similar to the first period continued to pile pressure and scored once again in the seventh minute through Iginla.
Avalanche managed to score in the final minute through Cody McLeon but it was the Flames who won the game 5-2 in the end.
