Calibrating a tv?

i just bought a 46 in samsung and i was wondering if the only way to calibrate it was hiring someone to do it. i heard of the cds you put in the dvd and it did it for you. can someone explain ans whats the best brand

You can do a pretty good job yourself by using any movie made with THX and a cheap pair of blue glasses from THX.
