  1. I agree with the last two answers.  I just interviewed for Kinder Care and was totally put off by their lack of developmentally appropriate practice.  Full classrooms and profit was their focus.  This is not how children learn and it is definitely not quality.  Look for a center where you can grow and learn.  Take a course on child development and remember that children come first.

    Good Luck

  2. I would prefer NOT working for a coproration where the early childhood centers are typically run like businesses. Learning centers are not businesses. Children are not products. Teachers need to make decisions about teaching, learning and curriculum, not business people.

If you're still considering one of the two companies, visit their websites, read the guiding principles or philosophies of each and decide which best matches your own.

  3. Hi,

the one to answer this question best is YOU.

Make a comparison between both from your own poimt of view. Which one of them has a clear rewarding career path and which one adds value to your work. It's also essential to know where you find yourself comfortable and give the best of you because this is how you will satisfy your own ego and have a great profession.

    All The BEST

  4. I have not worked for either of these companies but I personally would chose Tutor time. I do not work in california but in IL and I heard from employees of both centers if you really want to learn start with tutor time then you will have an idea of what to really look for.

  5. I agree... corporations are not exactly the best choice for developing good teaching habits.  Although, as you have no ECE units, you will have difficulty finding quality centers- so make sure to get some education in there if you truly desire to be in this field.  I can't say about Tutor Time, as I have never visited one of their centers, but as an educator who believes in the standards set by NAEYC (governing agency who accredits preschool programs), I cannot recommend Kindercare.  I have found their centers to be "child warehouses", with a lack of concern for the education of preschoolers, a lack of ability for staff to advance, high turnover rate of staff, low pay (although without any units, you'll have to expect this anywhere), high child/staff ratios, and inadequate training for staff.  My standard is that if I wouldn't put my own child there- I certainly wouldn't work there.  I've been in the field far too long to overlook some of the issues that corporations have- they are far too focused on the money, and less on the care and education of the children and staff.
