California Girl to pair up victories through the Betfred The Bonus King Maiden Standard Trophy – Heat 1 at Nottingham
Nottingham will host the first heat of the Betfred The Bonus King Maiden Standard Trophy over 500 metres flat on Monday, 30th April. Contesting for the race are California Girl, Cusco, Salacres Fever, Express Champ, Eden Rock and Romeo Neo. The
winner will get rewarded with the £125 prize money.
The leading contender for the race is California Girl, Head Bound’s three-year-old white and black daughter out of b***h, Shanless Euro. She started off with the season by getting drilled over 420 metres at Peterborough on 9th February. She rushed
through the distance in 26.37 seconds.
She dominated two races right after the training session. On 16th February, California Girl timed the 420 metres track distance in 26.07 seconds at Peterborough and led the runner up of the race, Aero Creed, by a good eight lengths.
She did not spare the line-up for the 420 metres race at Peterborough on 23rd February by completing the trip in 26.09 seconds. The three-year-old winner led the runner up, Dembleby Daisy, by a short head’s difference.
Her next three races fell under the unfortunate spell of losing the races one after the other. She ended fifth, then second and then third on 23rd March.
On 11th April, California Girl won a Grade A4 420 metres flat at Peterborough by reaching the other end of the wire in 26.06 seconds. The 5/4 favourite winner of the race took charge of the final 1 ¾ lengths and thus made Rathdromin Dinky settle
as the runner up after she had raced for 26.20 seconds.
Ending third in line behind the winner was Southill Boyo.
The very next race, Carling Maiden Stayers Trophy on 16th April at Nottingham saw California Girl finishing fourth after racing for 43.28 seconds. Mosquito Pilot was the 9/4 favourite winner of the race and had Anfi Fantasy joining beyond the
wire the quickest.
Her last race and win till yet was in the Grade A3 Lord Evans Birthday Stakes on 25th April at Peterborough over 420 metres. The 5/4 favourite of the race, California Girl, concluded the race in 26.00 seconds. Mays Champ was the quickest to follow
the lead of the winner and took 26.26 seconds to complete the race.
