California OR New York?

My dream is to be an actress. I was kind of wanting to go to New York to puruse instead of Cali, but what's yall's opinion on which would be the best place to go?

It depends on what type of acting you want to do. If you want to be involved in theater, New York is better for that. If you want to try movies, television, commercials, etc., California is the best place to go.

I really think New York is more theatre + broadway and Cali is  more film.

     So it depends on which you want to pursue.

If you like acting on stage go for New York because they have Broadway, off- Broadway etc. But on the other hand, if you like acting for film go to California. If its not to expensive, I know of many actors who live in both cities, but for me that would be a bit crazy. It all just depends on you personal preference.

most movies and television are filmed in LA, but some things are in NYC.  LA does have lots of theater, but obviously Broadway etc. is in NYC. depends what you want as your focus. you will only be successful where you fit in and are happy, so pick where you'd rather live.  if you like warm weather and long drives to auditions, LA.  if you dont want a car and like city life with walking everywhere and subway rides, NY.  spend a couple weeks in each and poke around at the audition scene.
