California Rose keen to conquer Gowran Park
In her last trip to Gowran Park in May 2012, the Patrick Martin trained bay filly, California Rose, had a very bad experience. Today again, she is set to run the Kilkenny Handicap at the same venue, but this time, she will try her utmost to turn her bitter
memories into sweet by winning the race over 7 furlongs.
This is not just a baseless supposition as the three-year-old veteran runner has proved her capabilities well recently. Moreover, she went through extensive training during the last three weeks with a view to spike up her stamina for this race. Thus, success
seems to be imminent for her.
California Rose elegantly accomplished a couple of consecutive triumphs during July 2012. After breaking her maiden with the title of the Hibernia Steel Products Handicap, she finished first with a reasonable margin of 2 lengths in the Killarney Oils Ltd.
Handicap.
Considering this feat, the punters granted her the favourite tag for the next race entitled as Arthur Guinness Handicap. But this time, she could not be able to perform according to the expectations, hence finished third against 11 rivals.
The punters trusted her once more but she again disappointed them badly. After her last start on August 10, Martin put the filly in school to improvise her skills and prepare her to cope with the mega challenge of Gowran Park.
Now, the daughter of Oratorio out of Asi looks to be confident enough to deliver a winning performance. It is up to Ben Curtis who better she uses the runner’s stamina white ridding her.
Among California Rose’s rivals, Samollie is likely to perform well. The Garvan Donnelly trained bay gelding has been at the peak of form since the dawn of 2012. After winning the Rambo By Horseware Ireland 3yo Handicap on February 17, he got two consecutive
runner-up ranks.
The veteran horse again sealed success in the WWW.dundalkstadium.com Handicap on April 13. After that, he registered a second and a third position in a row.
Thus, Samollie has a potential to give tough time to California Rose. Let us enjoy the heated action. Good luck to the both.
