california college students would pay more tuition compare to N.Y local student because of "out of state" residency right?

and the tuition would be cheaper if you stay in one state for at least 1 year , and then not paying "out of state" tuition right?

how about international student ?

if a international student who has stayed california. for example . more than a year.

would he / she gets a cheaper tuition because he/she has established " in state residency" ?

  1. Yes, you would pay more in tuition than a NY person if a California person moved to NY to go to college.

You would not be changed to instate tuition after living in NY for a year... you will always be an out of state student. (It takes a lot more than just living in a state to establish legal residency)

International tuition is more than both in and out of state.... you don't get in or out of state when you are an international student... you get international student rates.

  2. No, neither an out of state or an international student would get in state tuition after 1 year. Different states have different rules, but he bottom line is that if you are under 24, you are a resident of wherever your parents live and pay taxes for tuition purposes.

If you are over 24, if you move to the state and do not go to school for one year, you will become eligible for in state rates.
