My test is tomorrow, so today i was practicing backing up parallel to a curb, and it is easiest for me to just look in the passengers side mirror the whole time, while looking behind me a couple of times. is this allowed?

  1. In california at least you can't look over your shoulder for this part of the test.

  2. I don't know what the first guy was talking about...I was looking in the rear window and the side mirror on the passenger's side back and forth...Turned out fine for me.I live in Cali too.I suggest doing your test at Winnetka DMV

  3. Sure, why not...that's why the mirrors are there. No one I know has a neck long enough to 'LOOK' out the passengers' window while backing up...Just be sure you start at the right spot ..."parallel" to the adjacent auto, then back 'slowly' and turn the wheel until you are approx. 30 degrees to the curb, then turn the wheel the other way continuing backing, watch for clearance in front, then watch the right mirror and SEE the curb ... as you get close enough to see the curb parralel to your car...then center your car in the spot, leaving enough space for maneuvering`... GOOD Driving!!!
