I may be moving to the area of Trabuco Canyon, CA. Is this a nice place to live? I have a phobia of natural disasters (tornadoes, earthquakes, etc).. is there any chance of these things happening there?

  1. Depending what part of Trabuco you are going to live in..the only things to worry about are fire and mudslides....as for earthquakes,,,most of the time most people don't know about them until they hear it from someone else.

The last earthquake..I didn't know about until 2 hours later.

  2. You'd be better off living here than say Florida because hurricanes happen every year there whereas Earthquakes are few and far in between here. We recently had a 5.8 and it wasn't so bad. Some minor shaking, but no damage where I live. Tornadoes, floods and other natural disasters don't occur here.

  3. Hi -- yes, it's a great area.  Anna, we are all afraid of natural disasters, and there is always a chance, but the thing to do is to take all reasonable precautions and then move ahead.  In southern CA, earthquakes happen.  At home and in your car, have an "earthquake kit" to ease your mind; then, knowing you are prepared, get on with your life.

As others have said, when the earthquake hit the other day, although many millions felt it, not one person died, there were only one or two reports of injury, and some stores had merchandise fall.  That's it!

You cannot live your life in fear.

  4. earthquakes but not often... we recently had a 5.8 and that was the worse in a while...

it is a great place it live!

P.S. people are saying since we havent had one in a while we should get a big one soon i dont think so though i think that was it!

    good luck!
