  1. Each recycler sets a price, for the CRV items the per pound price is supposed to equal what you paid.

go to www.earth911.org to locate your local recyclers, they have weblinks or phone numbers for most of them so you can get rates. Some locations pay more for sorted glass others take mixed.

Here are some rates per pound I found

    alum. cans 1.56

    glass bottles  0.105

    #1 plastic  .90

    #2              .52

    #3              .56

    #4            1.85

    #5              .30

    #6            2.80

    #7              .39

    Bimetal     .32

  2. The CA recycling center that I went to on Friday, 7/18 paid

    1. $1.57 per lb aluminum cans

    2. $0.92 per lb plastic bottles

    3. $0.11 per lb glass

FYI: I got $49.21 from recycling. This was one month's recycling for a family of 6.

    Happy recycling!

  3. Most of the cans and bottles say how much they are on the bottle/can. You just have to look.

    1 Aluminum can - $0.05

    1 Plastic bottle - $0.05

    1 Glass bottle - $0.05 - $0.10

But, if you plan on recycling for money, you should count your bottles/cans instead of weighing them. It's more accurate when you count them and you get more money,

    Hope I helped! =)

  4. aluminum cans - .05

    glass bottle - .05

    plastic bottles (depends on size) - .06 - .09

There's money in those bottles and cans.

You can get more than your favorite beverage from these containers. You can also get cash. Thanks to the California Refund Value (CRV), you can return your glass, plastic and aluminum containers for money.

How much can you get for a bottle or can?

5¢ for containers less than 24 ounces

10¢ for containers 24 ounces and larger

As a matter of convenience and efficiency, most recycling centers pay by the pound if you bring in a large load, so be sure to have only CRV containers to get the highest possible refund. You also can request to be paid on a per-container basis if you bring in loads of fewer than 50 per material type you just have to ask the recycler to pay by count instead of by weight.

  5. That depends on the recycler is, there is no set price, and many of the recyclers are no longer taking glass.

in most places, they pay a little over $1 for aluminum.
