California using sewage water?

I heard that California is deciding on whether or not to use sewage water for their water supply, is this true? And if it is true what energy source are they going to be using, will it be hydro powered to clean the sewage/sea water?

  1. I live in CA and we have been using waste water for years for all our city landscaping. It can't be used in homes and is piped separately from all other water.

I've seen on a science show (sorry don't remember whichi one.) recently that they have a couple technologies that can take water from any source and turn it into clean drinking water. One was a small scale filtering system being developed for 3rd world countries. The other is being developed for large scale use.

  2. considering the water that all of in America consume today is the treated and untreated sewage water from decades pasts we'll all get used to it. Most of the programs use micro particle filters and a reverse osmosis treatment for "sewer to tap" water

  3. that explain's the bad breath californian's have

  4. i live in NH and we recycle our water.. i recently went on a field trip to waste management and we went to the water treatment plant. it was really gross and we walked around and saw all of the different steps to cleaning out the water. and by the end of the tour the water was drinkable. there are many steps to the purification process and the thought of it still freaks me out, but there is no way of getting around it.. my science teacher told us that most tap water is actually safer than bottled water, because bottled water isn't tested for all of the things tap water is tested for.

  5. florida does
