I am 16 years old and I live in san francisco. A car would be really inconvienent for me so I thought I would invest in a vespa for city travel. What kind of licenses do I need to drive one? I have no licenses currently.

  1. M1

  2. M1 or M2

  3. You need a Class M1 license or endorsement in California to ride a Vespa-style scooter (the type you sit on) regardless of engine size.  A go-ped style scooter (the type you stand on) requires an M2.  You would need an M1.

    */End of Line.

  4. You'd need an M1 or possibly an M2, depending on engine size. M1 includes m2, so the easiest solution is to get an M1 permit.

    You don't necessarily need a car license, if you do not want one, just be aware that there are times when it is convenient, going and fetching parts, that sort of thing.
