With a significant heat wave bearing down on California and the West this week and wild fires posing potential threats to the California power grid, the California Independent System Operator Corporation is declaring a Flex Alert for Tuesday, July 8 - Thursday, July 10. Consumers are urged to reduce their energy use during the late afternoon when air conditioners drive consumption to the highest point of the day. Energy conservation tips can be found at www.FlexYourPower.org
A heat wave is in the forecast and Cal ISO has issued a statewide flex alert, asking customers to cut back on energy use.
They say it's most important between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. That's when air conditioning use is at an all-time high.
The alert is in effect for the next three days.
A Stage 1 emergency is possible Tuesday and a Stage 2 on Wednesday and Thursday.
Being in San Diego (understanding the devastation of fires), I hope we can all conserve for those affected by these fires.
