  1. Im an exchange student so Ill be outa LA in 1 year and back to Germany! Hopefully it wont happen but if it does its nature fighting back destroying those clogged awful highways!

  2. I am actually moving to near Los Angeles from Florida.  The weather and State is soooo nice, it is worth it in any Earth QUake Danger.  I have seen Florida cities virtually destroyed by Hurricanes so Earthquakes are just something else.  ANd look at the Mid west Floods, and snow storms... it is always something.  I am sick of the heat and Humidity in FL.  Of course like anything else, you should add to the risk by a house on a hill or in a fire zone etc just as a house on a River that floods.  Common Sense 101

  3. No. Saying we're going to have "the big one" is redundant. One day it will happen, and most likely no one will be able to tell us when. I remember after Northridge I felt so bad for the geologists out here because people would not leave them alone. They demanded answers the geologists could not give. Mainly, when you could predict earthquakes. As far as I know you still can't 100%. But the media have to bring it up every once and a while to keep people scared.

Most quakes last a few seconds. Most of the time nothing happens because they are between 2 and 5. If you're walking across the room you probably won't feel it and you forget about it ten minutes later. I'd rather deal with the occasional quake then how my hometown in Jersey flooded *every* year.

Mudlsides out here are horrible and way worse than quakes. Whole muddy sides of a hill come tumbling into a house destroying everything and sometimes killing people. Whole sides of hills and/or mountains with houses come tumbling down. A few years ago I saw an entire swimming pool fall off a cliff. You don't forget all that ten minutes later.

  4. Not at all, we all know that we live in a state that is very voulnerable to earthquakes, there is at least 1 earthquake every day in califonia, except they all are minor ones. so sooner or later we should just wait and pray that everything goes well.

and to be honest i don;t plann to stay in california for 30 more years

  5. Just another part of the equation; gangs, police behaviour, etc.  Never let these things dictate your life.

  6. No. They've been saying it for the past 20 yrs after one we had when I was 11. I'm not afraid, if it happens it happens, I'm not gonna live in fear.

  7. Born and raised in So Cal along the San Andreas fault and I'm not the least bit afraid. It comes with the other privileges of living here. Why would I let it worry me? I can't stop it and I'm already as earthquake ready as I can be.

  8. They said that five years ago that a big quake would hit in 2007. Did I miss something.
