Storm chasers do not get paid.  Most do it for the fun of it and as a hobby.  Chasing is dangerous if you do not know what you are doing.  First off you will need to take a Skywarn spotting class they are held in late winter and early spring before severe weather season.  Visit you local National Weather Service to view dates (most likely they are done this for this year).  Storm chasing is expensive, it would help to have first, a laptop computer with wireless internet connection, some weather instruments, anemometer, weather radio, scanner... ect. You will need to have alot of knowledge to avoid getting in to trouble, (like getting in to the hail part of a storm) golf ball size hail will do a good amount of damage to a car.  If you wanted to storm chase i would recomend going on a chase tour.   It can be expensive but you are with professionals.   Oh ya "Dorthy" was a real concept the the NSSL tried to use in the 80s and 90s but failed.

  2. Storm Chasers are meteorologists that has high grades in science and maths and they are trained to get out of danger and you can warn the weather stations for tornado warnings to put on the news to prepare for the storms. They get paid a good deal of money for doing a dangerous job.

    Storm Chasers carries a laptop computer with a satalite radar, wind speed and the direction to see where the storm is heading and how strong the wind will be and they carry a video camera to record the event and send it to the news so every person can see what the storm did.

    If you want to be a storm chaser go for it you save lots of lives doing this job and people will be thanking you for save their lives.
