  1. Ok, I will call you cold hearted - now what?

(I don't really care - just another celb like elvis.)

  2. you're cold hearted. there ya happy?

  3. Why do we care about Paris Hilton?  She's not anybody's princess.

People care about stuff that doesn't really matter quite often.  People get really involved in their local sports teams, even though the players aren't locals and often don't stay more than a few years.  They get really involved in the latest celebrity marriage or breakup or scandal.

At least Diana tried to be more than a vacuous celebrity, with her efforts to ban land mines and other crusades.  And as the wife of the future king of England, and the mother of the likely future kings of England, she was 'newsworthy.'

Also, oddly, because her wedding was broadcast worldwide, and was a public event, some people became invested in the marriage and in the 'fairy tale' aspect of her life, and now in the tragedy of her life.

[ Reply to answerer below: John Lennon did not say he was greater than Jesus Christ. He said the Beatles were bigger than Jesus, by which he meant, hyperbolically, that they were more popular than Jesus. It's amazing that 40 years later, anybody still believes he meant he was in any way better than Jesus...]

  4. It's a real shame that you missed her purpose for being on this earth.  She was indeed our princess...she served the whole world, not just England, my dear.

  5. Good question.  I'd like to know why America idolizes her so.

  6. It seems to me her memory is mostly kept alive by those who want to cash in. That cheesy butler of hers has written books, sold her stuff and given seminars on how to live like the princess (it helps if you have a royal treasury to sustain it and a palace for your settings). Her secretary has also sold her out. The media sell lots of books, magazines and newspapers recrafting old stories.

It's just really cheesy. If people really respected her they would find more suitable - and private - ways of remembering and respecting her.

  7. She was a kind caring person and an inspiration to us all

  8. Why do people care about John Lennon....who was so arrogant that he thought he was greater than Jesus Christ...but was really nothing but an anarchist!  All that stuff about give peace a chance? HUMPH.  He talked the talk, but did he really walk the walk? He's been dead for over 20 years...and was pretty much  p**** whipped by Yoko Ono all those years! Yet people still revere him anyway...their perogative

Why do people care about Elvis, 30 years after his death? He wasn't the REAL king of rock and roll...and he took songwriting credits that were not his! Yet, MILLIONS of people visit Graceland every year, and thousands of impersonators make money off his memory.

Why do people care about either Marilyn Monroe or James Dean who have both been dead for 40 and 50 years? Both of whom didn't do anything for the betterment of humanity! Yet the pair of them STILL have cult status!

Why do people care about a host of drugged out, self-absorbed long dead celebrities like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and the list goes on and on and on infinitum ad nauseum? These hedonistic people glorified s*x, drugs, rock and roll...and even today are exploited as often as possible by the media and marketing entities...but NONE of them really truly did anything worthwhile that made a tangible difference in the lives of those who were less fortunate than themselves, did they?

NONE of them had the class, the style and the unconditional love for the common person that Princess Diana had. NONE of them were willing to get in there and get their hands dirty in the way she did.  She had more grace, charm, charisma and compassion in her little finger than the lot of those other people.

A few of the other altruistic dead famous people whom I can think of that even come close to her would be:  Princess Grace, Mother Teresa, JFK Jr., Peter Jennings, MLK and Coretta Scott King, George Harrison, Eleanor Roosevelt , Ladybird Johnson...and the recently deceased centenarian philanthorpist/socialite Brook Astor.

So yeah, you're cold hearted alright...and quite uninformed...as is anyone who thumbs down this response. HA!
