Question

But I think the UFC should have some non-title fights. There are matchups within the UFC that we will probably not see for a couple years if ever because of who is holding the title. Look at some possible fights in each of the divisions.

Wanderlei Silva vs. Rampage (their 3rd fight)

Anderson Silva vs. GSP (the best of the best)

BJ Penn or Sean Sherk vs. Matt Hughes (rematch)

None of these challengers deserve a title shot, but the story behind the fights would bring in so many viewers. But the UFC only seems to care about title fights. Does anyone else agree?

I agree it would be interesting. But this would never work. Say a title holder got badly hurt in a non title fight, he could be out of the octagon for up to a year.

Then there would be no title matches for that long unless you have an interim champion match which dosnt always work out. (Look at the whole Randy Couture/ big nog situation)

(I do believe that we will eventually see a rampage jackson vrs wanderlei silva matchup fight. I think they would both want it since Rampage lost both times. It's just a matter of when.)

100% agreed

Anderson silva puts on very exciting fights, and though its hard not to be labeled as a bandwagon guy, he is one of my favorite fighters...but look at whats happening, hes just sitting around because they cant find anyone to fight him!!!

Same with hughes like you said, he gets viewers and usually puts on good fights(even though im not a huge fan) but whatever, there def should be more exciting fights when  time and situation allows it...

indeed, only problem is then you could get a cluster at the top of the division with the top contenders beating each other, like it is at 205. I am also sick of guys fighting for the title being coaches on TUF. I feel like I havnt seen Rampage fight since Pride. and now Big Nog and Mir are going to be the next coaches, good grief. Dana White needs to work out a network deal or just have a show on spike that has the type of guys who go on TUF in regular UFC fights. Im soo sick of TUF!
