Development studio, Treyarch, has made no secret of work on another title to the CoD series, with many rumours pointing to a direct sequel of Black Ops itself and we take a look at all of the rumours starting with the release date.
The Call of Duty series is to video gaming what soda is to the everyday person; it’s everywhere, not every person likes it or necessary finds it a good thing but a majority of the world’s population consumes insane amounts of it on a daily basis.
While that analogy may not have been the best, it does give one some idea of just how the Call of Duty games are everywhere. Any time a trailer for a first-person shooter or even a third-person shooter hits the internet, the comments section is nearly always
filled with comparisons of the game in the video with the latest CoD game on offer.
That may be understandable when it comes to titles such as Killzone 3, Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2, yet when the comparisons go as Gears of War or Uncharted, and in some cases even the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, that is where many have to draw the line.
So when an image of a poster was leaked online by a retailer showing the 2nd of May as a reveal date for an as-yet unannounced title, it quickly became apparent that the game was none other than the successor to 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops.
The reason for instant, almost irrefutable, link is because Treyarch and Activision usually pick this time of the year to announce their upcoming instalment in the immensely popular series. So one can expect to find teaser trailers or announcements of Black
Ops 2 to flood the internet come
A large number of rumours seem to point to a 13th November release date, which incidentally takes place during a total solar eclipse. Does that omen bode well for Black Ops 2, or will the series finally see a slowdown in terms of the phenomenal
sales figures they have been posting over the past few years? Only time will tell.
