Call of Duty: Black Ops gets an all Zombie ‘Rezurrection’ DLC
Similar to the zombies, which Treyarch’s iterations of the Call of Duty series have become known for, it seems that Call of Duty: Black Ops is simply refusing to die; as yet another Downloadable Content (DLC) Pack was announced for the game, which turns 10 months old on the ninth of August.
The latest DLC will look to satisfy any ‘Zombies’ fan’s wildest desires as the entire pack consists of maps based on the popular off-shoot.
There are five maps in total, with four of the maps remastered versions from Treyarch’s previous foray into the Call of Duty franchise and one brand new out of this world map.
Nacht der Untoten, the map which gave birth to Zombies has been remastered and is set to be the first map making its way on to Black Ops following its release on Call of Duty: World at War.
The second map is Verruckt, which is based on the ‘Asylum’ multiplayer map and sees four players fighting for their lives as wave upon wave of zombies descend on them.
s**+ No Numa is the third map, and the first map to introduce both the h**l Hounds (zombified dogs) as well as the four main characters of the game. Set in the swampy wetlands of Japan, the map was the largest in the series till that point.
The final map to be remastered for Black Ops is Der Riese, the factory where players first got their hands on the Pack-O-Punch, which upgraded even the most pointless weapon into one worthy of having the WMD (weapons of mass destruction) label put on it.
Activision explained the move to reintroduce the maps claiming they wanted fans who missed out on the original Zombie experience (the number can actually be counted on the fingers of one hand) to be able to catch up.
According to the publisher, "If you were introduced to Zombies gameplay with Black Ops, these are the historical maps that will fill in some of the back-story for you - and in addition to updated weapons and polish, they each still have their own surprises to offer."
The one new map will see players fight against the undead on the Moon. No, this is not some lame joke or some sorry joke on our part. Players will get to fight zombies on the Moon, how the undead wound up there is beyond anyone at the moment.
The DLC will come with a Moon theme for the Xbox 360 Dashboard, as well as the soundtrack to the game with three extra songs thrown in for good measure.
Showing that Activision was not just in it for the money, they left everyone with the following statement, "As a thank-you to the hardcore fans for their support from the start. You'll be able to go into your Download History and re-download the classic pack you already own, and the fresh download will include the new Moon map. And you'll also get the soundtrack and theme, too."
Well done Activision, well done.
