Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Bettor.com’s Guide to Video Games for the Holiday Season – Part 3
With just two games on Bettor.com’s guide to the holiday season so far, the gaming community and the non-gaming community who are looking to get something for their gaming counterparts this Christmas, are wondering why we are going through the fuss of asking
the reader to start saving from now.
The honest answer is that Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception and Assassins Creed: Revelations may be no-brainers and most people will be able to save up enough between now and their November release dates to get both the games.
However, Bettor.com is one step ahead of you as the two games do not even make up a quarter of the final list of triple A titles releasing this holiday season.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Another must buy title has just been added to the list, or has it? The term ‘Modern Warfare’ is synonymous with the online first person shooter genre and the Call of Duty series is the best selling and most played games in recent history.
Modern Warfare 2 set records in the sales department of video games, only to see them broken by Call of Duty: Black Ops, the next iteration of Activision’s franchise, a year later.
Now it’s Modern Warfare’s turn to try and knock their, Vietnam era, counterpart off their perch and they seem in a strong position to do so.
Modern Warfare 3 on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is the second most pre-ordered title in the United States of America and is second only to Gears of War 3. However, its PlayStation 3 version is also up there near the top of the charts, meaning that overall Modern
Warfare 3 has a lot of pre-orders. We would like to take a minute to applaud these gamers who had the foresight to go ahead and order the game before its release. If only the world had more sensible folks like yourselves.
Activision, the game’s Publisher and Sledgehammer, the game’s developer, both conceded that they were still using the engine used in Modern Warfare 2 to run the third part of the game. However, gamers need not be disheartened as Sledgehammer had enhanced
and tweaked the engine, allowing it to run at 60 frames per second on consoles. Not something many games can boast off.
Apart from that, the core multiplayer experience which has made the franchise a global phenomenon has remain unchanged, though in terms of kill streaks, unlockables and other subsidiary features, the game is set to go through some major changes.
Modern Warfare 3 is due out on the 8th of November, which is between the release of Uncharted 3 and Assassins Creed: Revelations. If gamers have not already pre-ordered the game and wish to own a copy come Christmas time then Bettor.com cannot stress enough
how important it is they do so now. Otherwise they ought to be prepared for a real life version of Modern Warfare when the game comes out.
However, this advice is only for those who know they want Modern Warfare 3, as for the rest of the gaming community we would advise they wait and see how its first real competitor in years, Electronic Arts’ Battlefield 3, will fare.
In the end, Modern Warfare 3 is sure to sell in record amounts, so if gamers want a copy, remember the age old cliché: ‘the early bird catches the worm’.
It does not end here, to find out how more on what the video game world has to offer read on in:
