Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition and Xbox 360 console details
Activision have been busy coming up with ways to get the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 tag on anything and everything they can, as the gaming world braces itself for the release of one of the gaming world’s most successful and widely followed franchises.
Starting things off with revealing the eye popping, tongue rolling on the floor, just flat out s**y looking Modern Warfare 3 Limited Edition Xbox 360, the console has been given a sweet paint job and the two controllers that come with it have also received
the slick, rustic grey treatment.
Available only through pre-order for the time being, the console is set to launch simultaneously with the game when the Modern Warfare 3 hits stores on November 8, later this year. So, gamers can already imagine drooling over the thought of walking out with
a sleek 360 along with the game.
Priced at around $399, just $100 more than the high end version of the Xbox 360 which is available right now, it does not seem too bad a deal.
Apart from the two controllers and the console itself, there are a number of ‘small party gifts’ as well. The 320GB hard drive will be able to hold more than the average person’s needs and the custom sounds programmed to activate when the console is turned
on or off, is also a nice little feature.
The standard Xbox 360 free one month Gold Membership for Xbox Live is also part of the package, but the kicker might just be the avatar items exclusive to the Limited Edition console.
Seeing how Modern Warfare 2 was responsible for the astronomical hype and sales surrounding Call of Duty: Black Ops, one can see where Microsoft is coming from with this promotion. The previous Call of Duty game earned over $650-million in its first five
days alone, and adding a $399 console is extra money in the bank.
At the same time, Activision also announced its own plan to have gamer’s day dreaming, until the games release with its Hardened Edition. Priced at $100, the Hardened Edition boasts a number of extras and gaming goodies, most notably though a free year’s
subscription to Call of Duty: Elite.
However, one can rest assured that the game will sell phenomenally well when it is released later on in the year, but the question remains whether critics and more importantly, gamers will like it or not.
