Call of Juarez: The Cartel, The Sims 3: Generations top the Xbox 360 and PC charts in the UK
It seems that the Transformers fad, which was induced by its Hollywood counterparts screening across cinemas all over the United Kingdom and the world, is subsiding as Transformers: Dark of the Moon has been knocked off the top spot of the Xbox 360 sales
charts.
The past week saw Transformers: Dark of the Moon (T:DotM) fall seven spots before eventually settling down in at number seven, where it sits just above Electronic Arts’ Fitness Trainer, as well as the studio’s most recent instalment in their best selling
franchise, FIFA 12 which is at number nine.
Bethesda’s take on first person shooters, Brink is still clinging on to a spot in the top 10, but only just, as it holds the last place in last week’s sales.
Dirt 3 has also dropped down a couple of places in the charts. The game developed by Codemasters is the best selling racer in the market at the moment but that did not stop it from falling to sixth place as Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows Part 2 saw a
surge in sales - thanks largely to the Hollywood effect, as it sit in the fourth spot.
Making its debut in the top three is Namco Bandai’s budget-priced third person shooter, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon. The publisher’s move to price the game lower than the market seems to have paid off as the game seems to be doing well for itself.
Taking up the second spot is Square Enix’s RPG adventure game, Dungeon Siege 3 which is just behind this week’s number one, Call of Juarez: The Cartel.
The Cartel was the subject of a fair amount of hype and it seems that for the time being, the game is taking advantage of the solid marketing campaign.
Moving on to PC charts now and there is no change in the number one spot, as The Sims 3: Generations remains UK’s best selling PC game since the previous week. In fact, the second and third spots have remained unchanged as well.
Football Manager 2011 and The Sims 3 are still in the number two and three spot respectively after another strong week of sales.
It seems the United Kingdom is obsessed with The Sims, as The Sims: Medieval and The Sims 3: Late Night are in the number four and number five spots respectively. Just imagine what The Sims: UK would sell like - and EA you are most welcome for that particular
idea.
Blizzard has two entries in the top 10 with World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and StarCraft 2 taking in sixth and ninth position respectively.
