Question:

Callaway Fusion, X20, or 20 Tour? Which iron set should I get? I've tried all three and can't decide.

I'm a lefty that shoots in the high 90's, just graduated college and now have the time and money to play more and want to get better. I've read plenty of reviews and tried out different brands and I've narrowed it down to these three. I'm looking to spend 500 or less so new is probably out of the question which limits it to the '07 model Fusion or the X-20's, and to be honest I'm considering the X20 tours just because I like the look of them better. Which set should I buy?

  1. IMO, you should skip the Tour versions for now. They tend to keep the ball flight lower, and provide more workability (less forgiveness).

The Fusions are (from what I've heard) superior. But if cost is #1, your not losing much with the standard X20's. Good luck.

  2. Mizuno MX25's with Project X 5.0 shafts will be perfect for you. I much prefer Mizuno fit and playability to Callaway. I play Bridgestone irons and like their products, but I have owned both Mizuno and Callaway, ( and Cleveland, and Ping, and Srixon, so on). I do this not because I'm looking for a better game ( I find that is in MY hands not the CLUBS) but I just like to try different clubs.

  3. Three completely different sets of irons.  If you shoot in the high 90's stay as far away from the Tours as you possibly can.  I would probably also stay away from the X20's, they are probably for the 80's golfer.  The Fusion would be an excellent choice for you.  My buddy hits them, and I have played a round or two with them, and no matter how bad the mis-hit, the ball still goes.  They are not the most accurate clubs, not the easiest to shape a **** with, but man do they fly.  Not the best clubs for feedback after mis-hits.  If you are serious about wanting to get into the 80's, maybe wait until next summer and trade in the Fusions for the X20's or the new Berthas.  I would absolutely not go with the Tours.  Also, if you do go with the Fusions, get the originals, I would not go after this years model, the older set can be found for less on Ebay and in my opinion they are just as good.

  4. If you are high 90s I wouldn't buy 20 tour and X20, because Fusion have more forgiven, which means if you miss hit a little bit, it wouldn't really matter. so I suggest you to buy Fusion. I think Ping would also be a good choice for you, you should try them.

  5. Im currently using the Callaway X20's and their great. Very forgiving

  6. Ive had the X20's and tried the Fusion Ft's.  my fav is the fusions
