Callaway Golf and Lamborghini Diablo launch the newest composite club head
California based Callaway Golf is known for its high quality golf equipment, embedded with the latest technology in the world. The company has been churning out wide range of clubs and balls, unparalleled by its competitors and has revolutionized the equipment
manufacturing process. The company made its first break through almost two decades ago when it first introduced the “Big Bertha” driver which altered the club manufacturing operation forever. For Callaway, however, it was just the beginning.
The company recently launched the cutting-edge technology in club manufacturing with its first non-titanium club head, something which has been unknown for decades in club manufacturing. Titanium is considered one of the hardest metals on earth and has Mohs
Hardness Scale of 6, but being one of the heaviest, the metal adds unwanted weight to the club head, phenomenally altering the swing.
Callaway came up with their brand new research in composite metals and unfurled the newest Diablo Octane Driver, co-designed with the automobile giant Lamborghini. The composite is three times lighter than Titanium and has 500,000 intertwined turbostratic
fibers per square inch, which fill in for the necessary hardness required. The company claims that the metal is the lightest and the hardest of all their previous designs.
Dr. Alan Hocknell, Sr. Vice President, Research and Development, Callaway Golf stated during a demonstration, "If you want distance and more distance and more distance, this driver will give it to you."
Using the new composite metal, the engineers at Callaway were able to choose the right spot for the Centre of Gravity and Moment of Inertia for the head, rightly predicting the force exerted during the impact. Diablo Octane Driver will fetch more precision
and accuracy in a golfer’s swing and thereby more reliability in the shot. The sweet spot, which marks the centre of gravity of the head, also determines the direction of the swing and the company added some extra length to the shaft to increase the moment
of the strike.
Lamborghini and Callaway have come a long way in their multi-million dollar joint ventures, that have produced some of the finest breed of golf equipment through extensive research and study. The two giants have produced a wide range of equipment which gained
instant recognition across the world including, Diablo Edge Irons, Diablo Edge Hybrids, Diablo Forged Irons, Diablo Edge Tour Hybrids, and Callaway Big Bertha Diablo Golf Balls.
The Diablo Octane Driver also incorporates Callaway’s patented Hyperbolic Face Technology, which induces a larger “sweet spot” and improved impact efficiency. The club has a relatively small size as compared to its predecessor the All-Titanium Diablo Edge
and boosts at least 8 yards of extra length in the shot. The technology is set to revolutionize the club making process and is bound to replace Titanium forever.
