As you probably all know Callaway bought out Top-Flite in 2003. My question is, 5 years down the road the Top-Flite name is finally turning around and geting some respect. How much engineering and technology has Callaway put into the Top-Flite clubs??? I have found a set of XL 5000 clubs for $300 and they look exceptional, do you think they would be a worth a shot since Callaway is backing them now?

  1. You get what you pay for.

  2. Hard to say - you will only find out if you can try the clubs first and see your own results.  Just because Calloway owns the company doesn't mean they have had any input into Top-Flite designs or manufacturing.  On the other hand they could be identical with different name on them.  But they are only good if they get results for you.

  3. you should try them out because if callaway is backing them up they must have some kind of technology that is similar to callaway clubs so i'd say give it a try and if they arent as good as ur current clubs then wash the clubs and sell them

  4. go with hogans same company better prices , too much distance 45 degree 8 iron will need gap wedge .

  5. I thought they looked OK too. It's so hard to tell without playing them though.

They are likely run as separate companies, but yeah, the backing does instill consumer confidence. Not a bad decision for Callaway.
