If youhave owned several sets of callaway irons which set did you like the best? I have had the X12 and the VFT but am considering a newer model like the X20, FT, or 2008 big berthas. Thanks

  1. deffinatly the x-12s

all the latter models just look different

  2. Finally, the perfect question.  I am a Callaway junky.  If you are a 15ish handicapper, I would recommend the FT Fusions, easy to hit, soft feel, even on mis-hits, great distance.  A 10ish handicapper I would go with the Bertha, much better feedback on shots, a little be better as far as shaping a **** goes, but not great by any means, good distance.  X-20 are for the single digit handicapper, especially the tour model, but they are great clubs, I hit the Tours part of last season, then switched to the X-Forged, both excellent irons.  The 20 tours are a very true hitting set of irons, great to shape shots, honest distance, great feel and honest feedback after shots.  If you are close to scratch, I would go X-Forged, awesome everything for the established golfer who likes to shape, its truly a players iron.

I would also recommend to go and get fitted, and really demo the heck out of a set at your local shop before making a purchase, also make sure to get your clubs fitted, it will do wonders to your game, no matter which set you decide on.
