class, since that first call-in date is the first day of school, and therefore I'd immediately get dropped from it. Are they asking me to take a quarter off from college just to go to a week of jury duty?

Now they're telling me I have to drive 20 minutes to the courthouse just to EXPLAIN why I shouldn't even be there at the moment. What can I do? I know they're not the most understanding people over the phone, and I'd miss that first class just to explain myself. Any suggestions? Thanks guys..

  1. Send your tuition bill to the court.

  2. It is your obligation to pull jury duty.

What you need to do is call the school and explain to them that you have jury duty and they should be ok with it...

But it is your responsibility to explain why you can't do jury duty.  Sometimes they may even postpone it for 6 months then you would have to put your time in....

  3. I find this hard to believe.  I was called for jury duty more than once while a full-time student and was excused without problems.  I know of many others who never had problems being excused either.  I advise you send the appropriate person valid documentation along with a letter.

  4. I just got summoned for jury duty. I knew I was going to be out of the country so I just asked for an extension.
