Real Madrid midfielder has spoken of his mind in a strong manner regarding the recent saga that was related to Real’s younger players.
Jose Mourinho was the one who was criticised for not giving importance to Madrid’s reserve team youngsters even when his senior side plagued with injuries.
While Mourinho defended and distanced himself from those accusations, Jose Callejon feels every single player in Madrid is highly regarded and is important to the club.
He expressed his feelings towards this issue and said that a lot of nonsense has been said about it.
“A lot of stupid things have been said about the youngsters. The whole squad are valued as Madrid players,” he stated.
The midfielder added that it was he himself who had to go back to the reserve side in order to improve and get back to the senior side.
“There are some that go directly into the first team and others like me who have to step down to get back in again, but we don’t need to keep on deliberating the matter,” the 25-year-old midfielder explained.
Callejon was brought into Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund as a substitute. His sudden impact and influence was felt on the pitch.
The 25-year-old revealed that he was desperate to play and was not nervous as he went on to the pitch. He said that he wants to contribute and feature more for the club but understands that decision belongs to his boss.
“I really wanted to play and I wasn’t nervous,” he admitted.
“It’s the boss who decides but when I get the chance I try to do my best.”
Finally, Callejon shared his thoughts on the goal he scored in the Champions League against Dortmund that was ruled as an offside. He insists on the belief that it was not offside and that it should have been allowed to stand.
“It was not offside. I know it wasn’t because I saw the left-back directly in line with me,” Callejon maintained.
Jose Callejon rejoined Los Blancos in 2011 after spending three years with RCD Espanyol. It is widely expected that he will play a major role in Real Madrid’s Sunday trip to Levante UD.
