I just had someone call my phone and say the above and then hang up. The line was bad. I tried ringing the number back but the number is not in use. It's a 0207 number. Anyone else had this happen?

  1. There's no sucvh thing as an 0207 number.  It's 020.  7 is the beginning of the number, not part of the code.

A phone connection can fail meaning one party can't hear the other.

But having said that, if you don't recognise the number, don't call back.  They'll ring again if it's important.

  2. I have had that before...many times. The phone rings, I say 'hello' and then the other end hangs up. I am ex-directory but I still get such calls.

I should not worry about it. But if you are worried about your dad, maybe you can call him and find out if he is OK.

I also tend to ignore withheld numbers on my mobile.

    Added info:

That is a relief. You know your dad is fine, which is great :-) So I would not worry about the phone call.

  3. don't worry about it. sometimes someone will call me and I hear them breathing and I say hello hello and then they hang up. they may of dialed the wrong number or it was someone being stupid. since you called your dad, then it was nothing important

  4. Definitely a scam. Wait for your phone bill and be shocked by it.

  5. It's April Fools Day. Probably someones idea of a 'joke'.

You don't know the number so try not to worry.

  6. HAPPY APRIL FOOLS.  lol

    no need to worry.

no such area code as 0207.

    What those are we called

    "Caller ID spoofing"

Caller ID spoofing is the practice of causing the telephone network to display a number on the recipient's caller ID display which is not that of the actual originating station

  7. I SOME TIMES HAVE THAT PROBLEM WITH MY NOKIDA N75.SOME HOW MY SIMS CARD POPS OUT OF WHER IT CLIKS IN AND I CAN CALL AND EVERYTHING BUT THEY CANT HEAR ME BUT I CAN HEAR THEM . B YAYA

  8. yes they just phoned me too strange eh... could barely hear them

  9. Sounds like the Verizon guy to me. "Can you hear me now"

I have heard of a scam where they get you to say yes.  It is a recorded call and they can apply that answer yes to what ever they are selling.  You end up signed up for some "trial period" that you're not even aware of and if you don't call up and cancel it you end up with it hitting your phone bill as a small fee month after month.  Like Insurance on your phone for one.

Be careful about a simple yes answer with telemarketers.

The most common question is "is this Mrs...."

Most people say yes, I say "who's asking?"

Then I just say "No, thank you to what ever you're representing" and hang up.

Just check your phone bill over closely when you get it in.

  10. Maybe there phone is not working properly, I wouldnt worry about it and maybe its a number that doesnt accept incoming calls (certain businesses and hospitals for instance).
